After a few issues last night involving nature, we woke up refreshed and ready to take on a hike through the rainforest to a waterfall. Initially this wasn't planned, but Costa Rica Soccer Tours gifted us with a trip to the La Fortuna Waterfall at an ecological reserve; this was because of the community service project we chose to do earlier in the week. We departed early in the morning, and by 9:30 am we were hiking down a mountain. Half way to the waterfall, we were able to see howling monkeys after they almost dropped food on us from the trees. We made short work of the hike and came to the waterfall after about 30 minutes. The waterfall was at least a 100 feet high dropping into a mini pool of water. Initially, it was freezing getting in, but once you were completely submerged in the water it was incredibly refreshing. Many us tried to swim towards the area where the falls met the water, but the force of the falls combined with the waves it created proved to be too much. Next, we headed to lunch and had a delicious buffet at the Magic Mountain Hotel. Later on in the day, we travelled to the center of La Fortuna for a little shopping. This stop provided us with the opportunity to get small souvenirs for friends and family; we also used this chance to cool down with some gelato. After walking around the town for a couple hours, we came back to the hotel for some R & R before our game. However, as of now lightning storms are preventing us from taking the field.
